MQM not to accept 'kalashnikov Shariah'

KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday said that encounter in Baldia Town vindicated his position that Karachi was facing the threat of Talibanisation. MQM wouldn't accept the enforcement of Kalashnikov and bamboo-stick Shariah. "I had earlier warned the menace of Talibanisation and after Baldia Town's incident people should realise it," Altaf said in his telephonic address to a ceremony of the MQM's Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) held at the KKF head office. He urged the philanthropists to do needful for their security against the security threats. He reiterated that MQM wouldn't accept the enforcement of Kalashnikov and bamboo-stick Shariah.  "Jihadi seminaries have encircled Karachi from all the directions. Should they attack our population, we shall defend our population according to Islam and Shariah," he vowed. He lauded the role of intelligence agencies and Sindh police and paid high compliments to those who participated in the operation against terrorists hiding in a house in Baldia Town. He further praised the pre-emptive action of the police at the risk of their lives due to which the terrorists were killed without causing collateral damage. Altaf said that MQM believed in service of masses and KKF was a model since 1980. He asked the political parties to practically help the affected people of Bajaur instead doing lip-service. He said that many people begged for Kashmiris but they were not seen distributing donations among them especially during the earthquake. He said that KKF's blood bank was also a model for others. "KKF distributes cash and relief items among the deserving people every year and it extends its services throughout the year without any suspension." He appealed to the philanthropists to come forward and support the activities of KKF to improve the performance and activities of the foundation. MQM chief said that the volunteers of KKF had been served the masses without any discrimination, adding that the activists of KKF had provided relief to the earthquake victims of Iran, Kashmir and northern areas and also the affectees of Sonami.
