KARACHI - At least seven people were gunned down in various violent incidents here on Wednesday.
The bodies of three men were found separately from different areas of Pak Colony.
The victims were later identified as Pervez Masih, 28; Ramzan Sharif, 32, and Shaikh Ovais, 22. Police said all the bodies were found from Mewa Shah graveyard, Ali Muhammad Village and Rexor Lane. The victims were abducted and tortured before their bodies were dumped. They were the residents of the same areas and were not affiliated with any political or religious group.
One Javed Ali, 35, was shot dead near Bismillah Hotel. Police said he was the resident of Gulbahar area. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
In another similar incident, Sadiq, 27, was shot dead in a firing incident took place at a bus stop in Madina Colony, Baldia Town. Police said he was a watchman and resident of the same area. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
Akhtar Hussain Rizvi, 45, was gunned down in Urdu Bazaar. Police said the victim had a book stall. The incident took place when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at his book stall. Initial investigation suggested that he was killed over sectarian grounds.
Another man Abdul Kalam was shot dead near Wireless Gate. Two traffic police personnel ASI Niaz Buksh and constable Shamim were wounded when armed men opened fire on them near Power House Chowrangi. The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
On the other side, police booked Lyari gangsters in the murder of four MQM workers and sympathizers who were killed in Kharadar locality on Tuesday night.
Following the incident, Kharadar police have registered an FIR 331/13 on behalf of the victim Arsalan’s cousin, Rafiq against around dozen alleged Lyari gangsters, including Wasiullah Lakho, Mohsin aka Baba, Shahbaz, Abbas aka Abbasu, Ameer aka Mirchi, Yousuf Sindh aka Yousuf, Ashfaq Dada, Basharat, Sohail aka Sunny, Mama Lasi, Ayaz Zahri, Hameed Pathan, Ameen Buledi and Imran aka Kawwa.
The routine and commercial activities remain suspended in Kharadar and adjacent localities, including Mithadar, Juna Market, Bolton Market, Garden and Usmanabad on Wednesday to mourn the tragic incident. Extra contingent of law enforcers were deployed to avert any further incident.
