Technical committee allows Rauf as substitute to Gul

KARACHI - The Technical committee of the 9th Asia Cup has allowed Pakistan to substitute injured Umar Gul with Abdur Raulf, who was not in the list of fifteen given by the PCB before the start of the competition. According to a media release issued here Saturday the three members of the committee comprising Zakir Khan (chairman), K. K. Haridas and Iqbal Sikander as members considered the request from Pkistan team management for the replacement and allowed it. Umar Gul ruled out of the competition after suffering a tear muscle in the left rib cage while bowling against India in-group league match three days ago. He left the field after bowling only eight balls. Later, a scan of his injury was conducted which revealed that the player had torn a muscle in the rib cage and would need over two weeks rest to recover. The PCB selection committee decided to include Abdur Rauf who was in the 20 ranked for the trophy but not in the final fifteen
