MQM worker among 5 killed

KARACHI – Five people including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement were killed here on Thursday.An activist of MQM was shot dead in Jubilee area in the limits of Nabi Bux police station. The incident took place at catering shop situated in Jubilee area near Show Market where unidentified armed men open indiscriminate firing on 42-year-old Habib alias Langr. He died on the spot. After committing the crime, culprits manage to flee from the scene. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities, where scores of MQM workers reached. DSP Zahid Hussain said that victim was sitting in Sukkar Catering when around four armed men riding two motorcycles killed Habib. Police recovered eight empty shells of 9 MM pistol from the scene. The victim was an active worker of MQM Unit-30 Ranchore Line sector. Soon after the incident, tension and panic engulfed surrounding areas and all major shops and markets were closed. In the meanwhile, unidentified armed men open aerial firing. Resultantly, two passers-by namely Noman and Zikar Mohammad received bullet injuries on their thighs. Police shifted them to CHK for medical treatment. Police said that victims had partnership with Sukkar Catering owner.Meanwhile, a young man was shot dead in Macchar Colony Kalpana Chowk in the limits of Docks Police Station. The incident took place in rent a motorcycle shop situated in Macchar Colony where shop owner Mohammad Usman son of Habib was sitting in his shop when four men entered in his shop and open firing. Resultantly, he received a bullet on his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to CHK for legal formalities. “The victim’s family member said that victim had quarrel with a man namely Yousuf a year before then area people resolved the issue but Yousuf not forgive him and on the early hours of Thursday he entered in his shop along with his friends and attacked targeted him,” SHO Madad Ali Zardari told. Moreover, a young man and a woman were found shot dead in Gulshan-e-Maymar area on Thursday, police said. They said the bodies of young victims, apparently in their mid 20s, were found from an isolated place in Industrial Area with single bullet wound in the their heads. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said that the evidences collected from the site suggest that their bodies were not only dumped there; the victims were actually killed at the same place hardly an hour before their bodies were spotted by some area people. He said the bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue after medico legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
