KARACHI - Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a case of sexual assault of seven year-old girl, on Sunday
New Karachi Industrial area police had arrested the suspect from Khamiso Goth, New Karachi over alleged involvement in sexual assault of a seven year-old girl.
Police official said that the incident occurred when the victim came out to buy something from the nearby general store. After the incident, the girl informed her family about the tragedy and later the family approached the police and informed them about the incident. The police later conducted the raid and arrested the shopkeeper.
The girl was later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. According to doctors, she was subjected to rape.
SHO Rehmatullah said that the arrested person is a Hindu, namely Chenasor, who was living in the same area since many years, adding to that he was married and having three children. “We have arrested him and are waiting for medical reports to register the case,” the officer added.
SHO suspended: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Karachi police Abdul Khalique Shaikh has suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Aram Bagh police station while three other policemen were arrested after a member of the interprovincial gang of vehicle lifters managed to escape from police custody allegedly with the help of police.
According to the detail, the suspect who was identified as Mustafa Wahab who was arrested by Sher Shah Police about a week ago, along with his companion, Ramzan over street crime and a motorcycle snatched from Kalri area of Lyari.
Later the suspects were sent to prison from where officials of the Anti-Car Lifting Cell brought the suspects for investigation and kept them detained at the Aram Bagh police on temporally basis. Mustafa Wahab escaped under mysterious circumstances on early Sunday hours. The officials of Anti Car lifting Cell (ACLC) got to know on returning back to the police station. “When we reached they had escaped,” said an official of the ACLC, Shamsuddin.
“The police helped him in fleeing.” Later senior police officials were also informed about the incident. Taking the notice of the incident, deputy inspector general of police (South) Abdul Khalique Shaikh suspended the SHO Qamar Javed Kayani. Three other policemen, namely duty officer, Ameer, Head Muhrir, Maqsood and a sepoy, Fareed were also arrested. DIG Shaikh also ordered for an inquiry the incident. Inquiry officer, SI Mohammad Ansar said that the cases against the arrested policemen were registered for negligence and helping the suspect in fleeing while further investigation are underway.
