KARACHI - Administrative Judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Justice Ameer Hani Muslim on Wednesday remanded two suspects allegedly involved in Paposh Nagar blast in the Police custody till January 6. Suspects - Zeeshan alias Kala Shano and Mohammad Sajid alias Anto were produced in the court for obtaining their physical remand for further interrogation. The court while granting their remand directed the Investigation officer (IO) to produce them in the court on the next hearing. The suspects were charged with bomb blast in a Muharram procession that was passing through the Khilafat Chowk Paposh Nagar in the limits of Nazimabad Police on December 26. Around 22 people including six women and five children were injured in the blast. According to the Police, a police team, on a tip-off, arrested the suspects from outside Papush graveyard on December 29. Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Sanahullah Ghouri sentenced Hussain Akbar Shah to 10 years in prison and fined him Rs50,000 for sexual assault. The court heard arguments from both sides, examined statement of the victim and testified the statements of witnesses and declared the accused guilty on the basis of evidence produced by defence counsel. According to the prosecution, the convict took the victim (I) to his resident in Gulistan-e-Juhar area and raped her on July 2, 2005, later took her in unconscious condition. The convict will have to undergo further one year in prison if fails to pay the fine.
