PML-F warns against delay in polls

KARACHI – Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Sindh chapter Secretary General Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh on Sunday called on the ruling PPP to immediately announce date of next general elections, warning that any delay in it would not be tolerated. Addressing a news conference at his residence, the PML-F leader also demanded the government should nominate a caretaker premier with consultation of all the political parties. In this respect, he added, his party would very soon present its recommendations to the government. Expressing concern over the death of children from measles in Upper Sindh, Sheikh urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of deaths from the disease. He disclosed that more than 150 kids had so far died of measles. He also demanded Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain to instruct his party member, Heath Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed, to rescue the ailing children in upper Sindh. The PML-F leader informed the media that his party was starting a vaccination drive against measles in Upper Sindh from tomorrow. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khair Mohammed Narejo said children were becoming more and more infirm due to malnutrition. To a question, he said that the gap between the PPP and PML-F had widened.Referring to PPP’s public meeting in Larkana on December 27, he said, “We are happy that a youth, Bialwal Bhutto, was introduced in the meeting, but unfortunately this young leader, in his speech, did not make mention of the problems of the people of Sindh, particularly the SPLGA 2012, which, according to him, was designed to bifurcate Sindh.Contradicting a report that PML-F’s Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah was about to be nominated as the provincial governor, Sheik said even Muzaffar himself contradicted this report. To another query, the PML-F leader said he would ask Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro to pay heed to the Sindh Assembly instead of raising other issues and notify the nomination of the opposition leader. Sheikh, to a question, said he would again request the MQM to join hands with the PML-F as requested by their chief Pir Pagara in his Hyderabad public address. He also told the media that a public meeting would soon be held in Sukkur, for which date would be announced shortly.Later, Sheikh introduced Mohammed Tariq Bugti and Usman Shah of the Awami Muslim League and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, respectively, as new members of the PML-F.
