48 released on Eid

LAHORE - At least 48 prisoners jailed in minor offenses were released from the Lahore prisons on personal surety bonds on Eid, officials said Thursday.
Mr Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik, Senior Puisne Judge and Mr Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Senior Judge of the Lahore High Court visited the Kot Lakhpat jail and Camp jail to celebrate Eid with jail inmates. They issued on-the-spot orders for the release of 48 prisoners jailed in minor offenses.
Lahore District and Sessions Judge Mr Tariq Iftikhar, Inspector General Jails Mian Farooq Nazir, and DIG Malik Mubashar were also present on this occasion.
Boy recovered
A six-year-old boy, who was abducted while playing at Minar-e-Pakistan ground on Wednesday, has been recovered from the same place, police said on Thursday.
Police have detained a suspect and are investigating him in connection with the abduction for ransom attempt.
Resident of Muridkay, Ali Raheel visited Minar-e-Pakistan ground along with his family to celebrate Eid on Wednesday. He was playing in the ground when he went on missing under mysterious circumstances. Three hours later, his father received a call on his mobile phone. “The unknown caller demanded ransom for the safe release of the boy,” a spokesman for the Lahore police said.
The man contacted the police after receiving the ransom call. The Lorry Adda police registered the case and launched the investigations.
