LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Thursday rebuked Punjab’s Acting Inspector General of Police Khan Baig for not recovering an 18-year-old girl kidnapped 18 months ago.
Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan resumed the habeas petition hearing of Imam Bibi, resident of Pakpattan, seeking recovery of her daughter kidnapped by eight accused from the same area.
Acting IG Khan Baig along with a huge force of his ‘subordinates’ appeared and tried to satisfy the court by saying that the police was trying its best to recover the kidnapped girl. This statement irked the judge who rejected the same of Khan. “You have come along with bundle of police officers, but are failing to recover the girls for the last one and half year,” the judge remarked. He termed the progress of the police unsatisfactory and the girl could be recovered if the police hierarchy deployed the force on the subject instead of their deployment on protocol duties.
