Father of eight children shot dead

LAHORE - A father of eight children was gunned down outside the Sessions Court over old enmity allegedly by five armed men in Islampura police limits on Saturday. Reportedly, the victim identified as Muhammad Nawaz, a resident of Arif Wala, came to appear before the court following a murder case registered against him. According to the eyewitnesses, as soon as he reached some yards away from the Sessions Court, suddenly five armed men appeared and sprayed a volley of bullets on him. Resultantly, the eyewitness said, the man sustained five bullet injuries and died at the spot. The indiscriminate firing at public place created panic among the passersby, shopkeepers, lawyers and other visitors who rushed to save their lives. Many took shelter of vehicles parked on the road. The assailants later fled the scene after accomplishing their target. Police reached the site half an hour after the incident. Islampura police said Nawaz had an enmity with his relatives namely Tariq Ali, Allah Yar and Hassan Ali over the dispute to get hold in the area. On Saturday they appeared with two unidentified men and shot dead their rival outside the Sessions Court. The police further said that Nawaz's elder brother and two nephews had also been murdered some months back over the enmity. The body has been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy. Police registered a case against the alleged killers with no arrest so far.
