LAHORE - Top leadership of various religio-political parties while strongly condemning the firing and violence incidents at the Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations termed it an attempt to push the country towards Iraq like Shia-Sunni conflict. JI ameer Syed Munawar Hasan, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan chief Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair, Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith chief Prof Sajid Mir, JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq, and Pir Abdur Raheem Naqshbabdi, Islami Tehrik Pakistan chief Allama Sajid Naqvi, JI secretary general Liaquat Baloch, JUI-F secretary general Abdul Ghafoor Haidri and JUP secretary general Qari Zawwar Bahadur in a joint statement on Sunday said the enemies of Islam and Pakistan who had repeatedly failed to spark Shia-Sunni clashes in this country had now attempted to start clashes between different schools of thought. However, they said all the religious forces in the country were fully united on the principle of mutual respect, as they believed that sectarianism in every shape was inimical to this country. They called upon the government to make public the enquiry reports of all sectarian disturbances so far, exposed the elements behind these and wiped them out with a stringent action. The leaders said the world imperial powers led by the US had been constantly trying to create unbridgeable gaps between the people of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan, and the activities of the anti-Islam forces on the Eid Milad-un-Nabi, were part of the conspiracy to destabilise and weaken this country. They said a thorough enquiry into the bloodshed in Karachi on 12th of Rabiul Awal a few years ago and on Ashura this year should be initiated and a deterrent punishment to the culprits could have saved the country from fresh killings. They appealed the people of all schools of Islamic thoughts to foil all enemy conspiracies by maintaining their unity and mutual harmony. They also assured the masses that they would stand unite to preserve the Islamic and ideological character of Pakistan. They further said different religious and political parties were in touch with one another for convening a joint meeting for this cause.
