PTI decides repolling in five Punjab districts

LAHORE – The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) election commission has decided repolling in five districts of Punjab.
The polls will be held again in Sialkot, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and Muzzafargarh today (Friday) while the same will be done next week in Lahore.  When contacted, PTI Punjab election commissioner Shadab Jafferi said: “The re-polling in all towns and tehsils of Lahore was likely to be held next week. However, the re-election will not be conducted for the seat of president and general secretary.”
The re-polling in the tehsils and districts of Multan, Sialkot, Rahim Yar Khan and Muzzafargarh will be held today (Friday), he added.
About rigging charges in Kasur, the election commissioner said an inquiry had been on.
According to party sources, Hammad Azhar and Farhat Abbas met Hamid Khan and took up the issue of rigging with him.  They also threatened to abandon the party over the issue, the sources added.
Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and Farooq Amjad Mir also complained the same and demanded repolling for all slots including the president and general secretary.  They also threatened to quit party over the issue. Old members of the party have blamed rigging on the newcomers saying that they (newcomers) used the tactics they played in their previous parties to man polls. Following the rigging complains, the party commissioner took the decision of following the rigging charges against the Unity Group. The PTI held the second phase of intra-party polls on February 26 in Punjab.
