LAHORE - A meeting of the various Sports organizations was held at PSB Coaching Centre here recently to chalk out the schedule of PSB Inter-Provincial Youth Tournaments for the financial year 2008-09 and to consider other allied matters. The meeting was chaired by Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board. The following attended the meeting: Syed Munawar Abbas, Secretry Sports, Government of Punjab. Mr. Naib Khan, Secretary Northern Areas Sports Board. Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed Vohra, Director Sports, Islamabad Sports Board. Mr.Altaf Umerzai, Director, NWFP Sports Board. Ch. Muhammad Ishaque, Director, AJ&K Sports Board. Mr. Faisal Jamil Shah, Director Sports, FATA. Mr. Abdul Hai, Assistant Director, Balochistan Sports Board. Mr. Misbahullah, Rep Directorate of Sports Women, Peshawar. Mr. Muhammad Azam Dar, Assistant Director (Training), PSB. The representative of Sindh Sports Board could not attend the meeting. Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board welcomed all the participants for sparing their valuable time for attending the meeting. The Chairman emphasised that in order to promote sports at grass-root level, to hunt talent, creating harmony and to enhance national integration, PSB is sponsoring Inter-Provincial youth tournaments. He said, "To achieve these objectives we all must promote, concentrate youth sports activities and must organise youth training camps before the participation in any event so that optimum results could be achieved. Our motto should not be a winning the tournament rather to promote youth boys and girls who after grooming at appropriate level will avail the opportunities to get berth in national sides in future. The Chairman urged upon that national sports federations have not concentrated on youth in the past and failed to produce the second line sportspersons to replace the aged players and our performance at international level is pathetic and miserable. Now Pakistan Sports Board has decided to organize the under-14 boys and under-16 girls youth tournaments in selected games so that budding boys and girls could be groomed properly to get birth in national sides in future. The participants appreciated the efforts initiated by the Director General, PSB. In this connection, Pakistan Sports Board will organise Youth Gala (Under-14 Boys) in athletics, judo, karate, taekwondo, table tennis, wushu and squash at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad from December 25-29 2008. Sports Board Punjab will organise Under-14 youth tournaments in hockey and football during first week of April at Lahore. The entire expenditure of these tournaments will be borne by the Sports Board Punjab. The administrative instructions will be issued by the host well in time to the participating teams for preparing their teams. Details pertaining to events, strength is enclosed at Annex-A. PSB Inter-provincial Youth Pakistan Sports Board will also organise Under-14 Youth Sports Gala in athletics, hockey, judo, karate, squash, taekwondo, table tennis and wushu at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad from October 21-25. Pakistan Sports Board will invite all the heads of participating Sports Board to witness the gala. The administrative instructions will be issued well in time to the participating teams for appropriate action. Details pertaining to events, strength is enclosed at Annex-B. The house recommended that Scrutiny Committee comprising two officers of the Pakistan Sports Board (HQ) not below the BPS-17 officer is constituted and the host board should not be included in the committee. The DG Pakistan Sports Board agreed to the proposal and assured the house that their concern will be looked after. He said any player disqualified by the scrutiny committee for any reason will not be paid TA/DA. Any team having three or more ineligible players will be disqualified from participation and strict disciplinary action will be initiated against the team manager and coach. Original Form-B issued by NADRA must be shown to the scrutiny committee otherwise sportsperson will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. Age scrutiny will be conducted one day before the start of the tournament.
