LAHORE - The use of power against the Muslim countries must end trend of toppling of democratically elected governments would lead to worldwide anarchy, this was established by speakers in a seminar on Saturday titled- 'Refugees World Over-Status and Rehabilitation Issues’.
Hameed Nizami Press Institute of Pakistan organised the sitting which was presided by JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch while noted analysts Oria Maqbool Jan and Dr Muhammad Ijaz and Fazal Hussain Awan also spoke on the occasion. HNPIP Director Absar Abdul Ali was the program moderator.
Jamaat-e-Islami General Secretary Liaqat Baloch said that the UN had become a slave to the US as UN Security Council passes resolutions on American dictation. He said that British created the issue of Palestinian refugees. He said that the need of the hour was to address refugees’ problems from multiple perspectives and shed light on the political, legal and social dimensions of refugees.
He said that there are over 50m refugees in the world and they have been forced to live like animals in the camps. These camps are found in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon etc. adding that child refugees usually get no chance to receive basic education; often their parents have abandoned them as well. He said problems of serious malnutrition are also faced by refugees around the world. These factors all adversely influence the physical and mental growth of children.He said that after the NATO forces leave this region after 2014 the scenario would be heart-rending when there would be a flood of refugees as warriors would indulge in civil war.
Oria Maqbool Jan said that the migration in the world led to foundation of Australia and America. “The League of Nations approved passporting in 1920 and visa in 1926 and border security forces were formed in 1928”, said Oria adding that Islam gives a different view of migration and those who migrate but the UN changed the meaning of migration.
He said that the picture of Europe will be different after 2025; he added that the Europeans had been negating natural laws there. Oria said that time was approaching which would show clear demarcation between believers and non believers.
Fazal Hussain Awan said that the western world played a key role to migrate people from one place to the other. The USSR and then the USA were the chief agents behind Afghan refugees that added to the miseries of the neighbouring countries including Pakistan. He said that various events designed would raise people's awareness to the refugee crisis and the problems faced by them in today's world.
This seminar shed spotlight on issue to help resolve the problems of refugees.
