LAHORE - Public transport was almost vanished at inter and intra-city routes across Punjab and especially in provincial metropolis on Sunday creating severe problems for millions of commuters.
Majority of the passengers in Lahore remained stranded at homes due to ongoing protests by PTI, PAT and other anti-government political parties and holiday, however, who has to go out for their needs or came from out cities, could not find transport at city routes.
Some passengers standing at Thoker Niaz Beg said that they have to face lot of problems to find transport towards Lahore. They said that transporters off-roads their vehicles in other cities owing to law and order situation. There are reports that majority of filling stations owners also closed their businesses creating shortage of fuel for vehicle owners. Some PTI workers also closed Metro Bus Track on Ferozpur Road on late evening.
Severe scarcity of urban transport was witnessed at Jail Road, The Mall, Multan Road, Canal Road and other areas of the City.
Lahore is already facing severe shortage of public transport at majority of routes. Millions of commuters cannot find proper transport to reach at their destinations and they use either chingchis or costly rickshaws to travel. Around 50 per cent of available transport is already outdated and is not properly fit for travelling.
