PTI, PAT want to occupy key buildings: PML-N

LAHORE - PML-N central media coordinator Muhammad Mehdi has said that the PTI and PAT had entered the site of Cabinet division under a plan to occupy the Parliament, Presidency and Prime Minister’s House.
Addressing media here on Sunday, Mehdi said PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri two days ago had planned to storm the sensitive buildings in the Red Zone to achieve the goal of getting bodies through clash with the law-enforcement agencies in  order to prop up their sinking political ship. He said despite violent step by the PAT and the PTI, the government exercised maximum restraint to the point of even clearing the way of protesters by removing the police when they entered the Red Zone and decided to stage sit-in venue in front of the PM’s House.
But, he alleged that the protesters did not stick to their route and changed direction to enter the Presidency amid announcements from their respective leadership to take the Parliament into possession and stage there awami assembly.
Muhammad Mehdi said that the government took action only to meet its Constitutional and legal obligation of protecting the State property which in the Red Zone represents symbol of the State and mark of federation.
To a query, he said he is amazed that Dr Qadri and Imran Khan brought women and children in their protest but sent their own abroad to save them from any harm. He also questioned why not Pervaiz Elahi’s son, Moonis Elahi is part of the protest when the PML-Q is loudly seeking participation of others sons and daughters.
Referring to PTI President Javed Hashmi’s Press conference, he said Hashmi exposed Imran and Qadri’s anti-state approach indicating that they were working on a foreign agenda to block foreign investment as well as stop Gwadar port from becoming operational.
