Load shedding pushes a girl into coma in Jinnah Hospital Lahore during surgery

Unscheduled load shedding at Lahore's Jinnah Hospital on Monday pushed a young girl into coma when doctors were performing her surgery.
According to the Hospital sources, 21-year-old Shazia, an FA student, has been put on ventilator in the intensive care unit of the hospital where doctors termed her condition critical.
Shazia was suffering from appendicitis when the doctors operated on her, during which the electricity went off and the ventilator stopped functioning. The lack of oxygen negatively affected Shazia's brain.
The team, formed by the principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College Dr Javed Akram to investigate the matter, confirmed that Shazia went into a coma due to the sudden lack of oxygen when the electricity went out.
