Dense fog engulfs City

LAHORE With continental air prevailing over most parts of the country, the plains including the City remained covered by dense to moderate fog on Saturday, hampering vehicular movement on major intercity and intra city roads, including parts of Motorway and National Highway. The experts are seeing no respite from the foggy weather during the coming week. The fog started falling in the evening on Wednesday and engulfed the plains till midnight. Dense to moderate fog drastically reduced visibility, added to the woes of motorists traveling on Motorway and National Highway till at noon. The conditions improved at noon but fog again started falling in the evening on Saturday and gradually reduced visibility which lessoned to only a few meters till midnight. On Saturday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 13 degree Celsius and 01 C respectively. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 100 percent which decreased to 70 percent in the evening. Local meteorological department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country during the next couple of days. However, foggy conditions are likely to continue over the plain areas of Khyber PK, upper Sindh and Punjab including the City. Meteorological department has forecast dense to moderate fog for various sections of Motorway and National Highway with special advice for the motorists to take extra care from midnight to till 10 am. Met office has forecast dense fog from Gujranwala to Lahore, Lahore to Okara, Okara to Mianchanu, Multan to Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur to Rahim Yar Khan, moderate fog from Islamabad to Kharian, Kharian to Gujranwala, Mianchanu to Multan and Rahim Yar Khan to Sukhar on National Highway. On Motorway, met office has forecast dense fog from Peshawar to Swabi, Pindi Bhattian to Lahore and Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad, moderate fog from Swabi to Islamabad, Salt Range to Pindi Bhattian and shallow fog from Islamabad to Salt Range.
