LAHORE - HomeNet Pakistan, Kite Flying Lovers Association (KFLA) and Kite Flying Association (KFA) have welcomed the Punjab government initiatives for cultural revival and holding Basant festival in Changa Manga.
Talking to the media at the Lahore Press Club Wednesday, the office-bearers of these bodies said they would support the government fully over holding Basant festival during the next month.
They said kite makers would be benefited by this step of the government and similarly many other industries including paper industry, hotel industry, travel industry, bamboo workers, thread makers, tape makers, glass industry, glue industry and tourism.
Syed Zulfiqar Hussain, Ume Laila, Khawaja Nadeem Wyne and Khalid Malik and many others spoke on the occasion.
Syed Zulfiqar said governmnet’s decision came as a breath of fresh air to the frustrated youth of Lahore. They assured Punjab government of utmost cooperation in their efforts to hold a safe basant. He outlined a number of safety proposals which had already been tried and tested by KFLA in various other venues worldwide including the UK, USA, France, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE.
Khalid Malik, the president of Kite Flying Lovers Association, culture could be protected if public safety was ensured and they would follow the rules to avoid from any untoward incident.
