Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that Pakistan was going through a critical stage in its history and that the countrys civil and military leadership would have to make up for the damaging mistakes that they have made in the Past. Speaking at a Conference, Shahbaz said Politicians must mend their ways and purge the country from corruption. Corruption in on rise in the country, he said. He said that we admit Politicians are involved in corruption but he questioned that whether the corruption was not being carried out in Judiciary, army and state functionaries. On May 02, countrys sovereignty was violated. US forces intruded into Pakistans territory and carried out an operation, he said. The Chief Minister Punjab criticized the President and Premier for their statement, declaring the operation as victory in war against terrorism. It was regrettable, he said. He said that the United States refusal to vacate the Shamsi air base was also tantamount to challenging the countrys status as a sovereign state. There would be no one in the world to take name of Pakistan if we did not reply to allegations of international community, he said. Shahbaz further said that the Pakistani army was amongst the bravest militaries in the world, however, certain generals had been compromising the countrys sovereignty and dignity. People have complained with those generals who derailed the democratic setup in the country, he said. The army has rendered enormous sacrifices in war against terrorism, he said, adding that, Pakistan has lost 35000 people in this war, he said. We have to work hard to steer country out of crisis, he said.
