Shahbaz terms Metro Bus a historic project


LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Metro Bus Service is an important project in the history of the City and it will lead to availability of speedy transport facilities to the citizens.
While presiding over a meeting held on Sunday to review the pace of work on Metro Bus Service Project, Shahbaz Sharif said that work on all packages of the project had been initiated simultaneously, therefore, such a road plan would be chalked out that did not interrupt the flow of traffic.  The LDA director general gave a briefing about pace of progress of various packages while the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) informed about the traffic plan.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that work was in progress round the clock and an effective system of continuous monitoring should be devised. He said that a constant contact should be maintained with the educational institutions, traders and Data Darbar Committee which are on the route of the under-construction track of Metro Bus Service from Kahna to Shahdara.
Similarly, Shahbaz Sharif said, arrangements should also be made for ambulances so that the patients could timely reach the hospitals. He said that the citizens should be informed about the traffic plan for the smooth flow of traffic and a vigorous publicity campaign should be launched on print and electronic media in this regard. He said that the bus stops should be of eye-catching design.
The participants of the meeting gave their proposals regarding metro bus project and the traffic plan.
Special Assistant Zaeem Husain Qadri, MPA Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Punjab Police Inspector General, Communication and Works Secretary, Solid Waste Management Managing Director and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
Also, Shahbaz Sharif visited various development projects of provincial metropolis on early Sunday morning.
He arrived at Aashiyana Housing Scheme Saroba Atari at 5:30am. Later, he visited Muslim Town Flyover, Multan Road and gave necessary instructions for making these projects beautiful.
The chief minister also visited Punjab Forensic Science Agency where he was given a detailed briefing by the Project Director about the project.
A good number of people, gathered on Multan Road and Muslim Town Flyover, informed the chief minister that these projects were unique in the sense that best traveling facilities had become available to them due to completion of these projects.
Shahbaz Sharif mingled with the people and inquired about their problems and the quality of development projects.
