Govt backs institutions autonomy: Health secy

LAHORE Health Secretary Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan said on Sunday that the government was in favour of autonomy for medical colleges and teaching hospitals but the autonomy should be under a strong system of accountability. Chairing a meeting of the medical institutions heads, Jehanzeb said that performance audit and hospitals inspection would start soon. The health secretary directed the officials to display vacant posts of doctors not only on the website of Health Department but also on the Pakistan Medical Association to facilitate candidates. Earlier, the principals and medical superintendents briefed the secretary about the working of their institu tions. They also apprised him of the problems regarding finance and human resources. He assured them of taking affective steps to resolve these problems.
