OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Punjab Paramedics Alliance has announced to hold strong protest if the service structure approved by the Punjab Chief Minister was not notified till May 7. Speaking at The Nation Forum on Sunday, Chairman PPA Malik Munir Ahmed said that the Punjab Assembly passed the bill on February 2, 2010 and the Punjab CM granted approval after a week but the Health Department was not issuing notification even after lapse of one and half year. Chief Organiser PPA Anis-ur-Rehman, President Yousaf Awan, Divisional President Umar Zaman Qureshi and General Secretary Nazim-ud-Din were also present. Malik Munir warned that the paramedics would go on strike if the notification of new service structure was not issued till May 7. He also announced to stage sit in outside the CM Secretariat and commit suicide if legitimate demand of paramedics was not fulfilled. He said that all the other provinces have already upgraded service structure but the paramedics in Punjab were not getting their due right. Anis-ur-Rehman said that the Asian Development Bank has provided Rs 47 million to the Punjab government to meet the additional expenditures of revised service structure of paramedics but department was not issuing notification. Yousaf Awan said that lack of issuance of notification even after approval from the CM was clearly indicating motives of the department. Nazim-ud-Din demanded the government to confirm daily wager paramedics across the province.
