LAHORE - Lahore Waste Management Company’s awareness campaign on dengue has gained momentum as dengue cases rise in the city. Door to door awareness material distribution, float march and awareness camp establishment were carried out in Ghalib Market Gulberg area where LWMC teams raised awareness among hundreds of citizens involving them a in walk later on.
LWMC Youth Club also engaged the community women and shopkeepers in the awareness activity and area children joined team to go from one doorstep to another and brief people on importance of waste free surroundings in defeating dengue.
The LWMC operations teams not only did a special cleaning in the area but also requested area residents to keep open plots free of waste dumping in order to save themselves as well as the environment. Albayrak did special arrangements on the occasion by deputing extra workers, machinery and distributing waste bags in local households. The activity was led by Shafqat Rasool and Mohsin Saboor from LWMC while a number of youth club members, social mobilizers and community people joined LWMC campaign voluntarily.
Plot clearance operations are being carried out in all towns of the city. During two days of operations, Albayrak and Ozpak have cleared more than 250 garbage plots and resultantly have lifted more than 3000 tons of solid waste from plots deploying state of the art machinery and extra work force.
