Lahore: A total of 18 tons of relief items and Rs 2.1 million in cash has been collected within 2-days of establishment of army relief camps at Lahore for the earthquake victims of Balochistan, says a press release.
This was disclosed by Brigadier Mazhar Kayani, Commander Logistics Lahore Corps. He said that Pakistan Army has established 11 relief camps for their distressed Baloch brethren at various locations in the City. This includes relief camps at Fortress Stadium, Ayub Stadium, RA Bazar Cantt, Mehfooz Shaheed Garrison, Walton Road, Chunian Cantt and another five camps at Masjid Chowk, Wateen Chowk, Phase-4, Y Block and Khayaban-e-Jinnah in DHA Lahore.
He commended the response of the philanthropists, donors and social welfare organisations and appealed for further contributions to supplement the overall national relief effort. He emphasised that a sustained supply chain at even a larger scale was required to further augment the effort in hand.
He asked the general public for provision of dry rations, portable water, tents and cash. He also informed that cash donations can be deposited in Account No 0110100579438 Askari Commercial Bank Tufail Road Branch, Lahore Cantt.–Staff Reporter
