Strict security for Youm-e-Ali (RA) ordered

LAHORE – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman has directed the police to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the processions to be organised to observe Youm-e-Ali (RA), the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat-Ali (RA), on 21st of the holy month of Ramazan. The police chief has called for extraordinary security arrangements to facilitate the participants of the processions so that they could observe Youm-e-Shahadat with religious zeal and without any fear.
The IGP stated this while addressing a high-level meeting held on the special directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Thursday. A delegation of Shia Ulemas and leaders including Tariq Zawar Khan, Israr Saeed, Touqeer Baba, and Agha Qizalbash, Lahore DIG (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir, CTO Dr Usman Anwar, Chief Engineer LDA, and PSO to IGP Fayyaz Sunbal attended the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that more than 2000 policemen would be deployed on the route of the procession to provide security to the participants. Except three entry points of the route, all the entry and exit points on the procession route would be closed down and each participant would have to pass through three security checking-points to join the procession. The police would carry out checking through metal detectors and walk-through gates would also be installed at these points.
On this occasion, the Shia Ulemas and leaders expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements and thanked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab for extending full cooperation to them.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Cable Operators Association of Pakistan headed by its Chairman Khalid Arain called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman at the CPO today.
Central President of the Association Malik Furqan Ghiyas, General Secretary Punjab Chaudhry Tahir Javed, Central Information Secretary Niaz Sheikh, and President South Punjab Malik Rashid were also present on this occasion.  The delegation apprised the IGP about the problems being faced by the Cable Operators. The police chief listened to the problems of the Cable Operators and said that their genuine grievances would be redressed very soon.
