Govt fails to enforce ban on The Mall

LAHORE - The Mall Traders Association on Saturday observed that the government has failed to enforce ban on taking out rallies and processions on the Mall.
The meeting, attended by key office-bearers including Abdul Wadud Alvi, Imtiaz Ahmed, Farooq Azad, Javed Khan, Hafiz Asim, Kh Khalid, Hassan Baloch, Ahmed Raza, Khalid Butt and presided over by its president Naeem Mir, asked the district government authorities to implement the decision otherwise traders will file a petition regarding contempt of court.
The participants of the meeting stated that traders of the Mall are being exploited due to hours long traffic jam mainly caused by protest demonstrations. In the meeting Naeem Mir invited the attention of the DCO to remove encroachments on the Mall, as it is security risk for traders.
Imtiaz Ahmed criticised motorcycle stand near Masjid Shuhada, which may cause an untoward incident not only for the visitors of the mosque but also for the traders.
Addressing the meeting, Abdul Wadud Alvi pointed out that traders should also be taken into confidence regarding renovation of historical buildings on this VIP road.
