Police release partygoers after being bribed

LAHORE – City police stormed into a dance party after Saturday midnight in Defense House Authority (DHA) area, ransacked the venue, and detained dozens of partygoers including 10 girls, police sources said on Sunday.
The police arrested more than 55 people including 10 girls and all the accused were locked-up in north Cantonment police area. Police claimed that a dance party was taking place in the Sheesha Club when they raided the house.
Station House Officer (SHO) Asif Zulfikar led the police team, which raided a guesthouse in Defense Phase in the limits of North Cantonment police. Police sources further said that the policemen also recovered cash, bottles of liquor, 60 mobile phones, and other valuables from their possession.
The police put the girls in the lock-up inside the North Cantonment police station rather than shifting the female accused to the women police station in Race Course. However, the SHO released most of the ‘partygoers’ after accepting huge bribe. It was not clear yet whether the police registered the case against the arrested persons and how many people in fact were booked in the FIR.
When contacted, SHO Asif Zulfikar was not available from his comments despite repeated attempts on his cellular phone number.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old woman was recovered dead under mysterious circumstances from her residence located in Sabzazar area, police said on Sunday.
The woman, identified as Kasur Bibi, was lying dead in her hose situated near Madina Chowk in (A-block) Sabzazar on early Sunday. Her next-door neighbours spotted the dead body and contacted the police by phone. They also told the police that Kasur had been residing alone in the house. The police have removed the body to the morgue and are investigating.
