LAHORE- Provincial Food Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that provision of flour to the masses at the fixed price is the top priority of the government and no compromise would be made in this regard. He said that the government has fixed the ex-mill price of 20-Kg flour bag at 365 and Rs 375 as retail price and the elements indulging in profiteering would be taken to the task, he added. According to an official handout, the Minister stated this while presiding over a high level meeting regarding flour price, here on Wednesday. Secretary Food, Iftikhar Ahmed Rao, Director Food, Wasim Mukhtar and other senior officers were present. Provincial Minister said that Flour Mills Association had violated the agreement between the government and the association, which clearly mentioned that flour price would not be increased without government permission. He said that government would not only give full protection to those flour mills which would supply atta at the rate fixed by the government but would also facilitate them. He said that strict legal action would be taken against those who would arbitrarily increase flour price. Malik Nadeem Kamran said that all DCOs and DPOs had been directed to ensure supply of flour to the people at the fixed rate. He said that flour was one of the most important essential items hence no one would be allowed to make any arbitrary decision in this regard. He said that neither any decision had been made to increase flour price nor any proposal was under consideration in this regard. He said that stern action would be taken, without any discrimination, against such wholesalers, retailers who increased the flour price, he warned. The Minister said that wheat and flour were easily available in the market and flour supply would continue without any hindrance. He said that government would ensure supply of flour to the people at the rates fixed by the government.
