LAHORE - A gang of alleged Pather Group has smashed heads of another two innocent people and killed them at the spot in Gulberg area leaving a big question mark on the identity of the said 'mysterious gang' operating in the provincial capital after many other such serial killing gangs had killed several people in the past. It is learnt reliably that such serial killing gangs had been operating in the provincial capital with their separate 'trade marks' like Hathora Group, Sarkatta Group (headless), Chura (knife) Group and Danda Group. Now the Pather Group which had made it first appearance around some four years ago has resumed its activities especially since the last six months. The said Pather Group has killed several people and injured dozens others during the last several years. The two innocent killings on Wednesday was said to be a serious warning to the poor people sleeping under open sky as well as also to the law enforcement agencies who were not giving due attention to this serious offences. This serious offence, however, drew the attention of the city police and the police high-ups have constituted a special team of CIA police to unearth this serial killing gang. Giving details, the police said the members of Pathar Group allegedly killed an elderly gardener and a drink vendor after smashing their heads with heavy objects at a nursery situated near Qaddafi Stadium on Ferozpur Road early on Wednesday. Gulberg police said the victims were identified as Qasim Sayin, 70, and Ramzan alias Malangi, 52, both residents of Multan. Both the victims were sleeping under open sky in the premises of nursery when some unidentified people appeared, hit their heads with repeated strikes of heavy bricks, killed them and escaped. On Wednesday morning, owner of the nursery reached the place and found them dead with critical head injuries. Police shifted the bodies for autopsy and registered a murder case against the unidentified people on the complaint of nursery owner. Qasim was gardener of the nursery while Ramzan used to sell drinks and sleep with former under open sky at night. Police said that two people were killed and seven others were injured by the same group in Model Town division during the current year. Similarly, in another incident, the members of alleged Pather Group also smashed head of another youth in Johar Town police limits on Wednesday when he was asleep in an under-construction plaza. The victim who has been rushed to the Jinnah Hospital in critical condition was watchman by profession. The youth was identified as Imam Bux. Johar Town police have registered a case against the unknown men with no arrest so far.
