LAHORE - Eminent cartoonist Javed Iqbal and illustrious personage in the field of hotel management and tourism Ahmad Shafique have conveyed to the students that they can render great services to their homeland by working hard to acquire the highest possible education and skill.
Addressing the students of the Nazariati Summer School at the Aiwan-i-Karkunaan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan, Javel Iqbal recalled that he had drawn his very first cartoon for the daily Nawa-i-Waqt in October 1967. It comprised a sequence of four drawings of billy-goats, representing a comic situation. He observed that working under the supervision of the veteran journalist Dr Majid Nizami was an unforgettable experience, which had always proved helpful throughout his career.
Ahmad Shafique praised the sacred mission undertaken by the Nawa-i-Waqt Editor-in-Chief and Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chairman Dr Majid Nizami, paying him a tribute for instilling patriotism in the minds of young Pakistanis. He appealed to the media to project the beautiful image of Pakistan and refrain from focusing on ugly and hateful incidents alone. He sorrowfully observed that the attack on tourists in Nanga Parbat had put the future of tourism in jeopardy. He persistently remarked that a discerning person would find Pakistan the most beautiful country on the globe.
A question-and-answer session was also held and the students showing outstanding performance in different activities were awarded prizes. NPT Vice Chairman Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad and Secretary Shahid Rashid also graced the occasion.
Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chief Coordinator Mian Farooque Altaf and well-known industrialist Mian Salman Farooque will address the students today.
