LAHORE After the expiry of the 48-hour deadline given by the doctors, the healthcare service providers closed down the Out Patients Department (OPD) of Shiekh Zaid Hospital on Wednesday to protest against registration of criminal case against five doctors. The closing down of the facility created problems for the patients coming to the healthy facility for treatment. The patients were forced to approach nearby public sector and private health facilities for medication and treatment. Doctors, however, attended patients at the emergency department. Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff announced to continue strike till withdrawl of FIR registered against five doctors with Muslim Town Police Station. The medics also took out a rally from the hospital at 12:00 noon and staged a sit at the campus bridge, causing massive traffic jam on busy arteries. The protestors raised slogans against the local police and lawyers and demanded withdrawal of the FIR.
