LAHORE - Excise and Taxation (E&T) office Punjab will hold an anti-dengue walk on Sunday (today) to create awareness among masses, a spokesman said on Saturday.
A circular was issued in this regard directing all staff to be participate in the walk on Sunday. The walk will start at 10:00 am from Shadman Chowk and will end on Jail Road outside Punjab Institute of Cardiology at 12:00.
Minister Excise and Taxation, Mian Mujtaba Shujahur Rehman, Secretary E&T, Shahid Ashraf Tarar, DG E&T, Naseem Sadiq and other senior officers of E&T and employees would participate in the walk.
Punjab government is active against dengue and walks were being held in various parts of the Province. A similar walk was scheduled to be held on Sunday led by Chairman, Cabinet Committee on anti dengue, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan. Venue of this walk is Gulshan-e-Ravi from WASA Morr to Moon Market. Walk would be participated by elected public representatives, district administrative officers, students from different educational institutions, teachers, political workers and general public.
On the orders of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed, an extensive dengue spray has been initiated on war-footing basis at all the Lahore police stations, headquarters, and official residences. A spokesman for the Lahore police said on Saturday that the CCPO ordered taking all possible preventive measures in all sections of Lahore police to prevent dengue disease. Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed has also directed the divisional officers that dengue spray must be conducted in all police stations and offices and the senior officers should personally supervise anti-dengue campaign.
He also directed that all utensils, drums, water-tanks and other items, which contain water in police stations, should be properly covered, whereas water in the room coolers, installed at offices, should be drained. The city police chief, in a circular issued to Lahore police, has further directed the use of coils and mats along with dengue spray.
