The final exams for CT and BEd programmes of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) for the Semester Autumn-2012 will be held on May 14 and 15.
Earlier these exams scheduled to be held on April 24 and 26 but the test was postponed due to law and order situation at Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Adam and Mirpurkhas.
According to the controller, the exams of CT Course Code 632 and BEd Course Code 651 and 2605 will not be held on May 14 while exams of the CT Course Code 638 and BEd Course Code 512 and 2600 would on 15th. He said the centres and timing of these exams will remain unchanged.
Registration
Punjab University Registration Branch has started registration of new private candidates who want to appear in BA/BSc annual examinations 2014.
Deputy Registrar (General) Iqbal Khalil said that the students could get themselves registered with PU till June 28 with single fees of Rs 2,200. He said that the registration forms could be submitted from July 1 to July 31 with late fee of Rs 500. Later, he added, registration form would be accepted with Rs 1,000 late fees. He said that the registration form would be available at all the branches of Habib Bank and at PU Information Cell, IER Bus Stop, New Campus for Rs 30. The registration form can also be downloaded from PU’s official website www.pu.edu.pk.

PU Examinations Department has declared the results of MA Archaeology Part-II supplementary examination 2012, MA Persian Part-II supplementary examination 2012, MA Philosophy Part-II supplementary examination 2012, MA Social Work Part-II supplementary examination 2012 and MSc Geography Part-II supplementary examination 2012. Seminar
Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) and Department of Political Science organised a seminar on “Muslim World: Relations with China and West” on Friday.
Danish Ambassador Ole E Moesby was the chief guest while Danish Scholar Seven Burmester threw light on the topic. Director CSAS & Chairperson Department of Political Science Prof Dr Umbreen Javed, faculty members and M. Phil/PhD scholars attended the seminar. Seven Burmester threw light on economic development & culture and said culture consisted of language, history and values. Comparing English, Chinese and Arabic languages, he said that it was easy to learn English language and even Arabic language which changed according to speaking style but the case of Chinese language was different that it stressed meanings rather than sound. He said that so far as the history of Europe was concerned it preceded smoothly while history of China observed many ups and downs. He said the Muslims history, in spite of its glorious eras, had also entangled in complications. He empathized on two things particularly of Pakistan; education and population control. He said Pakistan had not controlled its population successfully as China and the West had done. He pointed to the growing extremism and terrorism in Pakistan which needed to be addressed.
