Words of praise pour in for Aleem Dar

LAHORE - Former first class cricketer and Lahore region council member Tahir Shah has congratulated Aleem Dar for winning the ICC Umpire of the Year Award. He said that Dar has made the country proud with his umpiring. The PCB should name an enclosure of any of the stadium after Aleem Dar recognizing his service to the game and for bringing laurels to the country. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Veteran Cricket Association (PVCA)s Chief Executive Officer Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, Sayid Paper Mills Head Aizad Sayid, manager Tahir Ali Chughtai, PFF Media Manager Akber Wahidi, PSWAs Secretary Manzoor Ali Arif have congratulated Aleem Dar who was named ICC Umpire of the Year at the LG ICC Awards in Johannesburg on 2 October 2009. Dar, 41, was voted to this award by the 10 Full Member captains as well as the eight-man Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, based on his decision statistics over the last 12 months. The PVCA head said it is a matter of great pleasure for me to extend our sincere felicitations to Aleem Dar. He made us proud. We hope such achievements would reflect positively on the importance the game has in our country and will act as a catalyst to bring international cricket back in Pakistan, he said.
