CM for timely completion of uplift projects in Murree

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif while issuing instructions for the provision of international standard tourist facilities in Murree, has directed heads of departments concerned to immediately complete the projects of construction of parking plazas and roads, checking of land sliding, forestation, installation of new chairlifts, development of picnic spots and tree plantation in Murree. According to a hand out issued on Sunday, the chief minister was presiding over a meeting to review the pace of implementation of development projects in Murree. Member National Assembly Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Advisor to CM Raja Ishfaq Sarwar, Member Provincial Assembly Raja Fayyaz Sarwar, Secretaries Health, TEVTA, Forests, Tourism, Director General PHA, General Manager NESPAK and other senior officers were present on the occasion. The chief minister expressed his indignation over the delay in the implementation of development projects in Murree despite the onset of summer season and directed that a high standard of construction of roads be maintained besides ensuring their protection against rains and snowfall. The meeting was informed that construction of parking plazas at Dhobi Ghat and Jheka Gali has been started while various international companies are being contacted for the installation of chairlift and cable car from three different places to Murree. It was also informed that construction and repair of hiking tracks in Murree is being completed in two phases while steps are also being taken for enhancing the overall beauty of Murree. The chief minister said a safe and modern chairlift and cable car system should be selected for the provision of better facilities to the tourists. The meeting also reviewed the process of development of PIA Park and Bag-e-Shaheedan as well as provision of more facilities to the tourists. The CM was informed that a model nursery is being set up in Murree under the control of PHA for the supply of plants at the local level. Similarly, the process of identification of land is continuing for forestation in Murree at a large scale. The chief minister said a request will be made to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for issuing orders for the supply of gas to Murree and surrounding areas for saving Gozara Forest from damage. Similarly, the Prime Minister will also be requested for supply of gas to Kotli Sattyan. The CM was informed that construction of Barian Toll Plaza will be completed by 30th May. The chief minister issued instructions for launching the project of construction of a modern 150-bed hospital in Murree by 15th May.
