PU Jashn-e-Baharan sports gala concludes


LAHORE - A colourful concluding ceremony of Punjab University Department of Sports (Men) Jashn-e-Baharan Inter-Department Men Sports Gala was held at New Campus ground.
PUTDSA President Prof Dr Ehsan Malik was chief guest on the occasion while Additional Director Sports Ms Attiya Mumtaz, faculty members and sportsmen from 10 different departments were also present on the occasion. While addressing the ceremony, Dr Ehsan Malik said sports students were playing their role to improve Punjab University’s ranking. He said we could not make our society better without sports. He said a physically and mentally strong person could enjoy his worships.
In this sports event, sportsmen of ten departments participated in different competitions. Department of Sports Sciences with 71 points got 1st, Gujranwala Campus with 40 points got 2nd and Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology with 6 points got 3rd position in overall competitions while Muddasar Mushtaq Department of Sports Sciences was best athlete with 40 points in the event. Various sports competitions including football, badminton, discuss throw, tug-of-war, table tennis, high jump, long jump, relay race, hammer throw, putting the short etc. were held in the event. In the end, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik distributed appreciation certificates, cash prizes and trophies among the best players and teams of competition.
PU holds workshop on digital library
Punjab University Department of Library and Information Sciences on Wednesday kicked off a two-day workshop titled “HEC Workshop on Developing Master Trainers for HEC-National Digital Library”. PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairperson Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the event.
Lather, the VC inaugurated the newly extended computer lab at the department.
