333 labourers get houses

LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar handed over keys of houses to 333 workers at Labour Colony situated on Defence Road on Friday. Special quota had also been reserved for disabled, women and elder persons.
Addressing the participants, the minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif wanted to provide maximum facilities to the workers and their families. He said that provision of shelter to the labourers was priority of the government. He disclosed that 27 labour colonies have been set up in Punjab so far. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that ownership rights of 334 houses would be given to the workers during next phase and this process would continue in future.
“Labour friendly policies of the chief minister are being appreciated,” Raja held. He asked the workers to properly look after these houses. He warned that these houses should not be sold or rented out otherwise departmental action would be taken.
He said that the amounts received from Workers Welfare Fund were being spent on the welfare of the workers.
Later, the minister visited various campus of COMSAT University. He appreciated the modern lab and the progress being made in information technology. He said that COMSAT University is the only institution which is providing quality education to the poorest children.
