LAHORE (PR) - Islam and other religions gave a high valued charter to humanity. Islam taught its followers to respect humanity, not to discriminate on the basis of caste, colour and creed, said speakers at a seminar organised by Islamiyat Dept. Government College Township.
Ahmad Mubarik Ahmad (DIG) Commandant Police Training School Chouhng said it is unfortunate that some people and nations think that they may flourish in turbulent waters.
“They use proxies and non state actors to create fuss and disharmony. We have forgotten questioning and research.
This attitude has made us blind followers. Due to this attitude promotion of knowledge and respect for divergent opinion has stopped.
We must learn from the life of the Prophet (PBUH), who was ready to accept opinion of his followers. Quran has lit our path we should keep it in our mind. Many of our troubles are due to ignoring divine path ordained by the Almighty and practiced by Prophet (PBUH).
He said that the prophet (PBUH) taught his followers to be respectful, cooperative and tolerant for others adding that He (PBUH) laid foundation of first multi religious, multi tribe republic at Madina. “He used Madina accord to form a common wealth of a pluralistic society. But unfortunately some people find reasons to differ with each other.”
Dr Muhammad Ijaz Butt, Principal GCT, lamented, “We are rigid in our practices based on hazy knowledge.”  He said that leaders and followers both were not toeing the right path. We can succeed only if we make life of the Prophet (PBUH) as a role model. Dr Abdul Aziz Khan Niazi, Head of Islamic Studies Postgraduate faculty and student were present on the occasion.
