LAHORE - An unemployed youth drugged seven labourers at a steel godown in the Baghbanpura limits and escaped after collecting their belongings including mobiles phone and cash on Tuesday.
Police said all the labourers fell unconscious soon after they took intoxicated tea at the godown of one Yasin in the Darogawala area late Monday night. The rescue workers rushed to the spot and shifted the workers to a hospital in unconscious condition. One of the workers alerted the emergency service after he found his colleagues lying unconscious in the godown late Monday. Three of the seven workers gained consciousness on early Tuesday at the hospital and doctors described the condition of all the victims as out of danger.
The police are searching the youth, who served the tea mixed with some drug to the manual workers, and escaped after collecting their belongings including mobiles phone and cash worth tens of thousands of rupees. Police investigators say that an unemployed youth, ye to be identified, had been visiting the steel godown of Yasin for the last three days. He had been denied a regular job by the godown owner due to unknown reasons. The police have registered a criminal case against unidentified swindler and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
FIRE
Cloths worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in a cloth godown situated at the third floor of the National Bank Plaza on Dhani Ram Road New Anarkali on Tuesday. The cause of fire was said to be short circuiting. Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished fire after hectic efforts. Further investigation is underway.
RESHUFFLE
Acting Inspector General of Police, Khan Baig, Tuesday ordered transfers and postings of five police officers.
A police spokesperson said that Mustafa Hameed Malik, Lahore additional SP (Investigation) Sadar division has been transferred and posted as Lahore additional SP Telecommunication.
Tariq Mahmood has been posted as Lahore SP Security-II (Security Division) while Mansoor Naji has been transferred and posted as SP Battalion Commander (Battalion No 05) Punjab Constabulary. Syed Jafar Abbas was transferred and posted as Deputy Director, Elite Police Force Lahore. Similarly, Mrs. Khalida Khurshid, AIG Inspection (CPO Punjab) was transferred and closed to the Central Police Office Punjab.
