LAHORE Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Friday unanimously carried two resolutions against the manhandling of the senior lawyer Raza Kazim and his associates by the owners of a private TV channel in the Supreme Court premises on March 1 when they were on their way back after appearance in a case relating to that channel. The General house of the Bar in its meeting chaired by the President Asghir Ali Gill through the resolutions, not only condemned the attitude of the owners of the Geo Group allegedly for giving a maltreatment and hurling abuses on Kazim and others but also put ban on the entry of the members of that Group to the Bar and sought action under the law against the persons responsible for meting out such indecent behaviour to the lawyers, who appeared for the PTV in that case. The resolutions said lawyers all over the country are up in arms against this incident and feel that the persons stand exposed who apparently teach morality and humanity to the nation. The resolutions were moved by Malik Muhammad Arif and Ch Muhammad Zafar Joya which were presented to the House by Secretary Bar Arshad Malik Awan. Earlier, addressing the House Arshad Awan, Mian Amanullah Choghta, and Dr A Basit, said the lawyers movement for independent judiciary was also supported tremendously by the people of other walks including media.
