LAHORE - Investigation police on Tuesday claimed to have smashed three gangs of bandits by arresting their 21 members.
Lahore DIG (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed told reporters that the robbers who had shot at and wounded Chinese national Liu Anguang on January 15 on offering resistance during a road robbery are also among those arrested. The police officer claimed that they also recovered Rs6.3 million, 10 tolas gold ornaments, one car and a motorcycle.
Accompanied by SP CIA Muhammad Omar Virk, the DIG said that a police team arrested Wajid Rehman, Fakhar Abbas, Naeem Ahmad and Imran Khan and recovered looted cash and illegal weapons from their possession.
He also said that the CIA police busted another gang of robbers and arrested its 9 members who had attempted to kidnap the owner of Razzaq Trust Hospital in Mughalpura, murdered a salesman of Allied Marketing, and looted cash from a trader on Brandearth Road. The arrested robbers were identified as Javed Khan, Asim, Irfan, Zafar Iqbal, Hashim Butt, Shoaib Butt, Rehan Ali and Haider. According to him, the police also arrested 8 members of another gang of robbers. They were identified as Usman, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Sadheer, Zafar, Kalimullah, Mohammad Akram and Ali Hameed. Replying to a question about the killing of 8 members of a family in Johar Town, the investigation police chief said that the forensic tests and fingerprints report had suggested that Nazeer killed the seven members of his family before committing suicide.
