LAHORE - Dacoits on Friday shot at and wounded a man on offering resistance and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth millions of rupees in several successful strikes in different parts of the provincial capital.
Police sources claimed that two gunmen intercepted a car-rider, Pervaiz Alam, near Cavalry Ground in the South Cantonment police limits.
As the man tried to flee, the bandits opened fire at him. Pervaiz sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital in serious condition. The bandits fled away.
In another incident, four robbers forced their entry into the house of Ijaz Ahmed in the Iqbal Town police area and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs2.5 million. The police are investigating.
Three armed bandits barged into the house of Izhar in the limits of Green Town police and took away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.
Robbers equipped with pistols also looted motorists, families, and passersby in the Garden Town, Ghalib Market, Hanjarwal, Johar Town, Satu Katla, Chuhng, Nawan Kot, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal police areas and snatched away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Meanwhile, three cars and five motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from different parts of the city.
