LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Friday summoned the Water and Sanitation Agency managing director along with reply in response of a petition against contaminated drinking water supply to citizens.
Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan was hearing a petition seeking clean drinking water supply to the residents of provincial capital.
Advancing arguments, the petitioner’s lawyer submitted that the underground drinking water supply pipelines were connected with the sewerage lines and the citizen didn’t have clean water for drinking. These supply lines were causing contamination of water which is playing havoc with the health of the citizens by contributing dangerous diseases including Hepatitis. Quoting a survey repot, the lawyer pointed that the death rate had also increased due the extraordinary quantity arsenic in the water.
The petitioner requested the court to issue directions to the city district government and Wasa to provide clean drinking water to the citizens. The court, after hearing initial arguments, summoned the Wasa managing director along with detail reply on October 7.
