Judges should act like gladiators: LHC CJ

LAHORE - LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has asked the judges to act like gladiators for providing justice to the public. He advised the Judicial Officers to develop a proactive and dynamic approach for ensuring court management and equal treatment to all parties in a case irrespective of their status.
Addressing at a dialogue on Court Management and Culture of Tolerance, organised by the Punjab Judicial Academy here on Saturday, the chief justice of the Lahore High Court appreciated the performance of District Judiciary and desired it to inspire the Bar for upholding the dignity and decorum of courts.
SC judge Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Raiz Ahmed of Islamabad High Court, and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan and Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik of the LHC were also present.
Justice Jamali termed the senior advocates as an institution and underlined the need for learning from them as well as ensuring them respect and honour. Justice Manzoor said that judges as well as advocates were required to improve the environment of the courts for the benefit of the public. LHC Registrar Sardar Ahmed Naeen conducted the dialogue and extended a vote of thanks to the participants for helping the event conclude in a pleasant way.

He also requested the CJ Bandial for organising another such function on November 16, the world day for tolerance.
Lahore High Court Bar Association President Shafqat Mahmood Chauhan, other office bearers and a large number of advocates as well as representatives of the district judiciary of the Punjab - from Court staff to District and Sessions Judges - also attended the event.
