Symbols allotted for PP-160 by-polls

LAHORE - The Returning Officer for PP-160 Lahore by-polls, Abdul Hameed, has allotted election symbols to candidates at the Punjab Election Commission office on Saturday. The RO also issued the final list of contestants according to which 12 candidates are in the run including three of major parties, PML-N, JI and PTI, while others are independent. The names of candidates and their symbols are: Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar, Tiger (PML-N), Malik Jahangir Hussain Bara, Fan (JI), Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Telephone (PTI), Ch Mansib Ali Jatt, Television (Ind), Rana Muhammed Dastgir, Football (Ind), Afzal Masood, Leaf (Ind), Malik Shafiq Bara, Gun (Ind), Imran Shafiq, Watch (Ind), Malik Zaman Khokhar, Stag (Ind), Malik Yunus Awan, Cart (Ind). Election symbols to Naeem Asghar Butt and Syed Atif Ali will be allotted later. After the allotment of symbols, another phase of the election process was completed while the Election Commission started arrangements for polling and lists of polling staff from Education and other departments is being finalized. The seat fell vacant after resignation by Rana Mubashir Iqbal of the PML-N over fake degree issue. Lectures Department of Urdu, University Oriental College, Lahore is organising a series of lectures to commemorate the scholastic services of distinguished scholar Dr Syed Abdullah. Renowned scholar of Urdu from India, Dr Shamim Hanifi will deliver the first lecture, which will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at Sherani Hall of the College. VC Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran will preside over while Intezar Hussain, Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik, Iftikhar Arif, Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakriya, Dr Saleem Akhter, Dr Moeen-ud-Din will be the guests on the occasion. Principal UOC, Dr Mazhar Moeen, President Urdu Department, Dr Tehseen Faraqi and Marghoob Hussain will host the programme.
