Two children go missing in ‘metro muddle’

LAHORE – Two children went missing after a Metro bus driver refused to stop the coach on the request of their father, passengers said on Tuesday.
Sources in police said Saeed Ahmed, a resident of Shahdara, took his children – Abdullah, Momin, and Maham – to a recreation trip on metro bus.
On the way back from Gajjumata, Abdullah and Maham could not get into the bus due to rush. Though the father yelled, the driver did not stop the bus, the sources said, adding that Ahmed returned to the previous stop but failed to find his children. He moved the Nishtar Colony police and got his complained registered with the police.
Accident: Three people sustained injuries when the van of a private factory fell into the canal near Tajpura in Harbanspura.  Police said the driver lost his control over the van when he tried to save a personnel carrier near Tajpura. As a result, the van fell into the canal, wounding three persons.
Shot: Extortionists shot and wounded two men as they refused to pay extortion to them in the Gujjarpura area, police said on Tuesday.  Police said that the accused persons Babu Khan, Yousaf Kahn and Samba demanded extortion from Arshad Khan who refused. On Tuesday, they attacked, wounding him and passerby Muhammad Aslam. The wounded were rushed to hospital. Police have registered the case and are investigating.
Killed: An alleged robber was shot dead by a private guard in Sabzazar, police said.
Resident of (570-K/ Block), Shahzad Akhtar told the police that four bandits  held him up at gunpoint and snatched away his car a few meters away from his house. According to him, when the bandits tried to flee, his guard opened fire on the robbers. As a result, one of the robbers sustained bullet wounds while his two accomplices managed to escape. The local residents also managed to capture the woman, who allegedly was the fourth accomplice of the bandits.
