Qasim Zia inaugurates floodlights at national Stadium

LAHORE - President Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Qasim Zia inaugurated the floodlights of National Hockey Stadium Lahore, here on Wednesday. The lights were installed in the stadium in March 2008, with the total cost of Rs 110.5 million, but due to some technical reasons the lights were not operational. By the orders of Raja Parvez Ashraf, Federal Minister for Wapda, LESCO officials installed the electric meters and issued the power connection on Wednesday. Qasim Zia told reporters, that the floodlights at the National Hockey Stadium were a dream of every hockey player. After installation of lights the game of hockey will grow up, and we especially want to say thanks to Raja Parvez Ashraf for his cooperation in this national cause. Qasim Zia said: "Pakistan-India junior hockey test series will start from November 11, half an hour before and after the first match in Karachi, the PHF has arranged cultural programme, while at the end of the last match in Lahore on November 21, two hours long cultural activity will be organised. He added that the raffle tickets will be distributed amongst the spectators on all five matches, and at the end of the matches there will be a lucky draw and one lucky winner will get Rs 100,000 cash. Qasim Zia appealed to people that they should come to the ground to support "men in green".
