LAHORE - A special bench of the Lahore High Court has observed that Criminal Justice Coordination Committees (CJCC) throughout the province would form an agenda item in every meeting regarding security in court premises.
The bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Sh Najamul Hassan observed this while hearing a petition regarding court premises security matters. The bench also directed the LHC Registrar to convey these directions to all the district and sessions judges in the province and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) would ensure their compliance by the concerned police officials.
The court further directed that security plan for each judicial compound would be updated and revised in the light of local and provincial experience.
The bench ordered the Prosecutor General Punjab (PGP) and IGP to hold a meeting to consider the fresh proposals made by the PGP for incorporation in the existing Standard Operating Procedures for coordination between the two departments to establish a workable frame-work. The court ordered both the departments to propose terms that define the area of their cooperation, fix the hierarchy of officials responsible to enforce accountable measures. The court will take up matter on October 10.
