LAHORE - Human Rights International (HRI) Chairperson Sayyed Anwar Aleemi announced hunger strike till death if United Nations (UN) and its member states do not legislate human rights according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by UN on December 10, 1948.
“I will go on hunger strike till death before the office of UN in case all the member states of UN should not take all the steps to fulfill his demand from December 10, 2013. In case The US government will not allow my entrance, I will start my hunger strike before the office of UN in Pakistan.
In this regard, UN Secretary General Ban Ke Moon has been informed” Sayyed Anwar Aleemi announced.
He said he was morally bound to contact the UN member states and considering his legal obligation, sent a letter to the heads of UN member states demanding to make all the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by UN on December 10, 1948 as the part of their respective constitutions at the earliest.
“The obligations of a state to respect, protect and fulfill can be applied across the spectrum of human rights; the right to adequate food, the right to education, the right to health, the right to housing, the right to water, the equal right of men and women to the enjoyment of all economic, social and cultural rights, the right to everyone to benefit from the protection of the moral and material interest and the right to work for all its public,” HRI chairman maintained.
